Meet David DeLano of Kennedy Nemier Insurance in Plymouth, MI
How long have you been with your firm and what’s your role there?
I’ve been with Kennedy Nemier since September 2014 – so going on 7 years! I am a Commercial Account Executive there.
If you have a niche market that you’re involved with, how did you get started in that niche?
When I started in insurance and was hired by the agency I worked for previously, their niche was Bars and Restaurants in their area. So that is how I got my start. Then I found another niche in the area with contractors. These are the two niches I work with the most.
What is the favorite part about working in the insurance industry?
There is something different every day coupled with helping people with their needs and protecting their livelihood.
What is your proudest moment in serving a client?
When a former client left and then they came back. They were willing to pay more to get the right coverage because they realized and appreciated the service we provide. They left for price but came back because they realized the value we bring.
Also, I am proud of the longevity of so many of my clients from when I first started in insurance 20 years ago. I am proud and grateful that they are still with me today. That definitely means a lot to me and inspires me.
What are key words you’d use to describe what you do?
Peace of Mind.
How would you describe your productivity before and after using eForms Wizard?
Completing the applications in eForms Wizard is so much easier than in our agency management system. I can use eForms Wizard wherever I am and I don’t need to be logged into our system – heck, I don’t even need internet access.
The fact that what I type in a field on one form fills in on another form also makes my life easier. eForms Wizard just saves me time because it’s cleaner and more efficient all the way around.
What is something most people don’t know about you – maybe a unique hobby or interest?
I was a golf teaching pro before I was an insurance agent!
What does an ideal weekend look like?
100% with my kids and coaching kids’ sports.
Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?
My Honeymoon in October 2003 was in Nevis in the Caribbean on the Nisbet Plantation. Nevis and Saint Kits are 2 idyllic sister islands between the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. It was the best island experience ever!
What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
Fall leaf clean up – We have A LOT of leaves.
